I read the rules and hope its alright to post it here in CryptoCurrency.\n\nSo I set up an Coinomi wallet for my girlfriend since she had all her coins on Binance exchange. We wanted to make them safe since there was a lot of bad news about Binance have to pay a heavily fine.\n\nI was afraid same thing would happen with Binance as with the FTX exchange. So i used to have my coins in Coinomi and kept the seed phrase safe in my camera on phone ( no strange applications or cloud services that would upload it anywhere. So i thought it would be safe).\n\nI did the same operation with my girlfriends coins, moved it from Binance into Coinomi wallet on Nov 26 2023, told her to keep the seed phrase very protected. Then an early morning on 30 Dec 2023 she felt she wanted to keep the seed phrase in more place so she sent an email with the picture to her own email ( which we thought were safe and secure with 2FA and only her having access to it.).\n\nApparently it wasn't safe and someone accessed her wallet on January 11 2024 and emptied the wallet on BTC and BCH.\n\nTXID for the BTC : cd8e9b004aa18603d62d6b78fae144d09c728232b612a07a9d592fb32711bc6c\n\nTXID for the BCH : bb0959d5a5d61121b8d7b599c08ba5201a0f793b2ef1876304d9c5c6c5272d44\n\nSo it was about 611.15 USD in BTC and 398.52 USD in BCH. (Maybe not the most money but still very much for us. And feels like a huge loss since it was going for our vacation/future.)\n\nHer wallets for BTC was : bc1qe2069p0h29jj364cvwprgazuc8aa2ppxmhp6ur\n\nAnd the BCH wallet : qztarreg8a4sjv7l0qhxuvzv8nssa47t6yhwxsudef\n\nI have tried to track down the addresses it sent all the coins to ( several transfers on the BTC, i guess to hide tracks. Or sold in many steps.)\n\nAnd it seems in the end all the BTC ( stolen from many people around and different amounts) go to a Binance wallet that is verified.\n\nBTC wallet it all ends up into : bc1qm34lsc65zpw79lxes69zkqmk6ee3ewf0j77s3h\n\nIs this just a whale that buy coins from everywhere or is it the core wallet for a hacker group?\n\nThis wallet seem to have alot of BTC coming from many many users. Value of wallet is : $813,288,875 and is a Binance verified account. (By what other redditor saying this is binance hot wallet and all coins go there when u sell to binance.)\n\nAll the BCH ended up in an \"ghost wallet\" and is still sitting in the same wallet. But not many transactions or transfers to an verified exchange wallet.\n\nBCH wallet address : qq448hnk9awzfas3f0395rz8mk2gcjdcv5fmzukjrh\n\nWe feel very sad about this happening but can also see that the big mistake was to send email to herself..\n\nCould someone please explain a little how this \"hack\" happened?
